About Art McNeil

Art McNeil is the founder and CEO of The Baton Management System.  BMS offers the owners of mid-size businesses an innovative "do-it-yourself" approach to help CEOs increase profits, generate corporate energy, and create transferable wealth. more

He also founded Achieve, an internationally known consulting company specializing in organization and leader development.  Achieve's path to success was heralded in Art's reason for being statement: "when theory is not enough." The company branded itself by advising potential Clients... "if you want a report hire a consultant.  If you're looking for results, partner with Achieve."  Art successfully implemented his strategy of changing the rules of the consulting game.

Achieve was eventually acquired by the Times Mirror Corporation where Art became Executive VP International, responsible for Zenger Miller operations around the world.  He was eventually promoted to Group VP Marketing for all the TM consulting companies—Achieve, Learning International, Zenger Miller, and Kaset. Art was also chairman of Times Mirror Training's International Board of Directors.  The TM companies eventually merged into Achieve Global, now one of the largest (organization, leader, and sales) development companies in the world.

Prior to founding Achieve, Art was Director of Sales and Marketing in the telecommunication industry. He left after a 15 year career to launch his own business.  Initially, Achieve was a marketing consultant to equipment manufacturers.  Art discerned that most client problems were not because of technology or poor planning.  At issue was management's inability to make plans happen.  He shifted Achieve's focus from marketing to organization and leader development—capturing "top of mind" in an emerging global total quality movement.

Art is recognized around the world as an inspiring authority on helping CEOs shape a high performance culture and take their company to the next level.  He authored a #1 bestseller entitled, The "I" of the Hurricane: Creating Corporate Energy that became an international classic.   Order Books

Art earned a mid-career Master of Arts Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from Whitworth College, Washington State where he studied leadership and group dynamics.  His MA/ABS included dysfunctional family therapy.  When asked why a management consultant would engage in family studies  Art replied, "because what goes on around the kitchen table goes on around the boardroom table—just bigger words and more paperwork."

Art has been published in management and business journals such as Executive Excellence and Family Business Magazine.  He also wrote a syndicated newspaper column, entitled Life is not a Spectator Sport.

Art lives in Tampa Florida where he directs BMS, facilitates executive think-tanks, coaches CEOs...and plays tennis (sort of)
